Export your address book from Nokia to Blackberry

A friend of mine ask if I could helped him with his new gadget. He had a Nokia 6300 with 909 address book and now he would like to have those address book on his Blackberry contact. I promise him that i will help him but since he was busy traveling and i was busy with my exchange 2010 system, i haven’t had a change to help him.

Yesterday I met him and he brought his old and new gadgets with him. If you could do this he said that “kita selesaikan secara adat nantinya” :)

It’s quite simple actually, first you must prepare the hardware part and software part.

  • Hardware part : pc or notebook, usb cable
  • software part : windows operating system (xp/vista/7), Ovi suite from Nokia and Blackberry Desktop manager.

Once you downloaded Ovi suite from Nokia, install on your computer and run the application. Plug in your usb cable into your Nokia 6300 and your computer. Ovi suite will find automatically your mobile phone. After that you must set the Ovi suite to syncronize your address book to Microsoft Outlook. If you already have outlook profile you can move to next step but if you don’t it’s the best time to create one.

To be able your Ovi suite to recognize your outlook profile, exit the program and then start the application again. Syncronize all your address book by pressyng the sync button. We can move to second step.

Download your Blackberry Dekstop Manager and install on your computer.Plugin your usb cable to both end (Blackberry and PC). First it would be batter to backup all your Blackberry setting and application before proceeding to the next step. Once you have backup on your computer, you must set your syncronize option on your BDM to syncronize Microsoft Outlook contact to your Blackberry contact. Once you finished click start syncronize.

Wait for a minute or two, or you can see on your blackberry display the process of copying those contacts.

Done, you have all your contact on both device now, your Nokia and Blackberry.

It’s not so hard as you think i guest  :)
